I just wanted to mention that I think it's hilarious that you called this the Vesuvian blog. I still very clearly remember sitting in the fast food restaurant with you and Stephen and Chris talking about potential citizen reactions to their impending doom. I'm just glad that's a touchpoint for someone else.
That's about all I have, except that I recently found a post-it I wrote to myself at work last year which said, in its entirety, "08 Budget." I'm still trying to figure out why I thought that was so important that I needed to write it down. It's funny, because at the time I would have written the note, the '08 budget was the only thing I was working on, and is really the entire point of my job. It's similar to Eric writing a note to himself that says "physics." Trust me, it's funny.

I think we had been at the Art Institute in Chicago, and had been looking at a painting of a much-later-than-Pompeii eruption that showed people in the village below. What could they do, but ruminate about how stinky it was?
